Gregory P.
Salmon

Counsel who came up in the courtroom, now carries enterprise risk at scale, and builds companies of his own.

Gregory Salmon went from a GED to a doctorate, and from a public defender's caseload to the governance seat of a publicly traded enterprise. Today he leads enterprise governance, advisory, and regulatory affairs for a financial-services company of nineteen thousand people. Before that he was deputy general counsel of a private-equity-backed enterprise.

His work covers what carries the most risk inside a company: regulatory exposure, compliance, privacy, securities and SEC matters, fraud prevention, and the mergers and acquisitions that change a company overnight. He has held general counsel leadership for a decade, across financial services, technology, real estate, and agriculture.

He came up in the courtroom, as a New York public defender and appellate litigator, where a wrong call cost someone years of their liberty. He is also a builder: across a decade he has closed eight transactions as a principal, equity participant, or advisor, and still runs companies of his own. He has eight published books to his name.
